Praise Report!!

We just got home from our trip to Nashville. Our doctors appt went very well!!! Reflux is staged by "grades 1-5" (1 being most likely to correct itself and 5 being the least likely).

Kinsley has grade 4 on her right side and grade 5 on the left. As frustrating as it is, this should have been caught in-utero and been evaluated at birth. That would have most likely prevented the ER trip and stay in the hospital! GGRRR

The doctor seemed optimistic that we should stick with the daily antibiotics and keep an eye on it. She's going to grow a bunch over the next year so there's a 20-40% chance it will fix itself. We'll go back on October 1st for a Renogram to make sure the right kidney is draining properly. We'll see the urologist right afterward and determine what we'll do next.

If all seems well on the renogram, we'll schedule another VCUG a couple months out and play it by year. Our revised prayer request would be that there won't be a breakthrough infection. If there is, then we may need to do surgery/ a procedure sooner. The main reasons that we arent doing surgery now is because her bladder is too small now to re-connect the ureters.

So all in all it was a good report. We expected the diagnosis but were anticipating immediate surgery. There's a decent chance we'll need surgery in the future but also good odds that she'll outgrow it. THANK YOU JESUS!
